First Person:
The Human Need to Destroy
Words and Images: Floria Sigismondi
The human need by nature is to destroy. It will always innately lay under the skin, waiting 'til the time is ripe... destruction of all things sacred. Images of burning cows, violated buildings, crumbling body parts, the birth of cloning and the death of humanity appear out my window. The collective tells me to close my eyes, switch the channel, crawl under the warm and soft realm OF IGNoRaNCE, but reality feeds at my feet IN a feverish frenzy. It kills, it maims and it destroys ME. It shapes our everyday life, the loss and dissolution. I now walk with a realism of life, because I have felt the cravings in humans to destroy beauty. These are my scratches and scribbles, ghosts in an urban landscape. In order to find ourselves, we must destroy ourselves -- the human race craves the experience?
