RES Screening (November 16, 2004)
Words: The Editors
Tuesday November 16, 8:00 PM
Egyptian Theatre
6712 Hollywood Blvd.
Hollywood, CA
Tickets: $10
Our November screening at the Egyptian Theatre features new work from a number of the talented artists featured in this year's RESFEST. Talmage Cooley, director of the popular Pol Pot's Birthday, returns with his Interpol Short Film Contest winner Dimmer, a short documentary about a gang of blind kids in Buffalo, New York. Woof Wan-Bau, who created Ikara Kolt's dynamic "Wanna Be That Way" vid, offers the animated short Watermelon Love, a product of Channel 4's Mesh filmmaking initiative. And Australian Daniel Askill offers "Reign," a music video for UNKLE that reprises some of the same techniques as his mindbending short We Have Decided Not to Die. We'll also be showing the dark new music video from Spike Jonze for the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. And speaking of dark, The Streets "Blinded by the Light," directed by Adam Smith of Colonel Blimp, shows Mr. Mike Skinner at his most outrageously debauched yet.
Also on tap: new videos for The Faint, Swayzak, Blues Explosion, Earlimart, Ming & FS and many others. And directors Shafei & Levitz will be on hand to present their innovative split-screen video for Gift of Gab's "Rat Race." So be sure to join us Tuesday night for some cutting-edge work, insightful conversation and a drink at the Egyptian Theatre.
